Positano · Amalfi Coast · Est. 1962 Hotel AURELIA

Twenty-eight suites carved into the cliff above Fornillo beach — lemon groves on one side, the open Tyrrhenian on the other.

Ristorante Lume · Michelin 2024

01 The House

A pensione built by a seamstress, a fisherman, and one stubborn lemon tree.

In 1962, Aurelia Benedetti opened nine whitewashed rooms above the fishermen's cove of Fornillo, stitching every curtain herself. Her grandson reopened the house in 1998 as twenty-eight suites — same arches, same lemon tree, now leaning over a cliff-edge pool.

No two rooms repeat. Hand-cut terrazzo cooled the floors in 1962 and cools them still; the olive beams were salvaged from her husband's last fishing boat.
