( 01 ) — Our story
Dune & Ember was founded in 2009 by the Al-Zalabieh family of Rum Village. Our grandfather guided surveyors through this valley; our father mapped the climbs; today we guide travellers — never more than eight at a time.
We depart away from the convoys, refill our own wells, carry out everything we carry in, and time every route to the light. Licensed by the Wadi Rum Protected Area (Permit № WR-0147), with a fair-wage Bedouin crew on every departure.

Every departure is private, guided by family, and timed to the light. Prices include guide, 4×4, meals, water and all camp equipment.

Rum sits in one of the darkest sky pockets in the Middle East. When the generator sleeps at 22:30, the valley belongs to the stars — and to you.

+962 79 812 4406October to April brings 18–26°C days and cold, clear nights — ideal for trekking and open-sky sleepouts. In summer we run sunrise and late-afternoon departures only, resting in shade through midday.
Layers for warm days and cold nights, sun protection, closed shoes and a small headlamp. We supply drinking water, Bedouin tea, all meals, mattresses, blankets and full sleeping kits.
At our family camp near Alameleh: goat-hair tents with real beds and shared eco washrooms — or, on request, open-air “million-star” mats beside the fire, blankets piled high.
About 1 hour from Aqaba and 3.5 hours from Amman by road. We arrange private transfers on request; the meeting point for every tour is the Rum Village visitor gate — your guide waits with tea.
Yes. Routes adapt to the group — cushioned 4×4 floor seating, camel legs strictly optional, and frequent shade stops. The minimum age for overnight camps is four.
