a slow café in the north of thailand
Single-origin beans from the mountains of Doi Chang and Doi Tung, roasted in tiny batches behind our counter — poured slowly in a teak shophouse two streets from the old clock tower.
our story
Hearth & Oak began in 2019, when siblings Mali and Chai Intara turned their grandmother's teak shophouse on Singhakhlai Road into a six-table coffee bar with a secondhand roaster and one stubborn idea: Chiang Rai's own beans, roasted here, poured with nowhere-else-to-be care.
Seven years on, the beans still come from the same two family farms — a washed arabica from Doi Chang and a honey-process lot from Doi Tung — roasted in 12-kilo batches every Tuesday, right behind the counter where you can watch it happen.
The garden out back grew from three pots of basil into the shadiest corner of the old town. Bring a book. Stay too long. That's the whole point.
We don't chase trends. We chase the feeling of a slow northern morning — and we put it in a cup.
