( 01 ) — Why Ridgeline

We only get paid
when you’re dry.

Dale Merritt started Ridgeline on a Sellwood porch in 1998 with one rule: no Portland homeowner should fund a roof they haven’t seen yet. Twenty-seven years and four thousand roofs later, the rule stands.

Rain is a different trade up here — sixty inches a year, moss in every north valley, fir needles in every gutter. Our crews are badged GAF Master Elite, our quotes are itemised to the bundle and box of nails, and our final walkthrough happens with you on the ladder if you want to be.

  • GAF Master Elite — top 3% nationwide
  • 50-yr Golden Pledge, filed for you
  • Moss & needle specialists, never pressure-washed
  • 27-point photo inspection on every quote

$0 due until we drive away.

No deposit. No draws. Payment at completion, when the walkthrough is done.

( 02 ) — What we do

Six trades,
one ladder.

Every job starts with the same free 27-point inspection — drone pass, attic check, photos you keep. Prices below are honest starting points.

Roof replacement

Tear-off to ridge cap in composition, standing-seam metal or tile re-nail. Dried-in the same day, landscaping tarpped, magnetic nail sweep every dusk.

From $9,8001–3 days6:12 pitch & up

Repairs & leak response

Blown shingles, failed flashing, mystery ceiling stains. We find the entry point, photograph it, price it flat — most repairs done same-week.

From $385 call-outSame-week

Moss removal & treatment

The Portland specialty. Air-blow only — never a pressure washer — then a zinc treatment and ridge strip that keeps regrowth off for 3–5 wet seasons.

From $640Half day3–5 yr control

Gutters & downspouts

5K seamless aluminium run on-site to exact length, leaf guards cut for fir needles, and downspout tie-ins that move water past your foundation — not into it.

From $1,450One day

Skylights & ventilation

Curb-mounted and solar-venting skylights with triple-seal flashing, plus ridge and attic ventilation that cuts the condensation our winters breed.

From $1,900 installedOne day

Storm & insurance claims

After a wind or ice event: free damage assessment, drone documentation, scope written in the adjuster’s own format — and we meet them on your roof.

( 03 ) — How it runs

From first ladder
to final nail sweep.

Two to four weeks, start to finish. Five steps, photographed at every one — you’ll see your roof more clearly than you ever have.

Start with a free inspection
  1. Step 01 — Days 1–2

    Free inspection, on the roof

Drone pass, attic and decking check, 27 photos in your inbox. Boots on shingles, not binoculars from the driveway.

  2. Step 02 — Within 48 hours

    Itemised quote, locked 30 days

Materials line-by-line — down to the box of coil nails. No allowances, no “subject to”. Anyone charging vague gets undercut by anyone charging honest.

  3. Step 03 — Week 1–2

    Permit & material staging

We file with the city, order to your street, and stage bundles the day before — never a pallet on your lawn for a week.

  4. Step 04 — Days 1–3 on site

    The install

Crew of six to eight, tarps over the landscaping, dried-in before every nightfall, magnetic nail sweep around the whole property at dusk.

  5. Step 05 — Completion day

    Walkthrough & warranty filing

Gutter line to ridge cap, together. GAF 50-year registration filed before we invoice — and only then does payment come up.

Forty miles of

We run three crews out of the Sellwood yard — which is why quotes land in 48 hours and the storm line actually gets answered.

Every neighborhood below is standard-callout. Outside the loop — Salem to Longview — we still come out for full replacements and storm work; just add a day to the schedule.

Neighbors who
stopped dripping.

“Crew of seven had 2,400 square feet off and dried-in by dinner. Day two, ridge cap on. Day three, you couldn’t find a nail in the grass if you crawled it.”
Marcy T. Mt. Tabor — full replacement, October 2025
“Three companies looked at our moss and quoted a whole new roof. Ridgeline walked it, said the shingles had six good years left, and treated it for $680. Honest people.”
Dev & Priya R. Beaverton — moss treatment, March 2025
“After the December windstorm they tarped us the same afternoon, then met our adjuster on the roof with drone footage. Claim approved in full — we paid only the deductible.”
Glenn H. Vancouver, WA — storm claim, January 2026

A composition re-roof on a typical 2,000 sq ft Portland home runs $9,800–$14,500 installed. Standing-seam metal runs roughly double. Every Ridgeline quote is itemised line-by-line — tear-off, underlayment, flashing, bundles, disposal — and locked for 30 days.

Two to four weeks in normal weather. The install itself is one to three days, and the house is dried-in the same day tear-off starts. Winter atmospheric rivers can stretch material staging — we’d rather tell you that than leave your deck open to a storm.

No — driveway access for the dump trailer and one outdoor outlet is all we need. Expect photo updates at tear-off, dried-in, and ridge-cap stages, and a final walkthrough whenever you’re free. Most clients pick Saturday morning and a coffee.

If your shingles are under about fifteen years old and still sound, treatment is usually enough — we air-blow, never pressure-wash, then apply zinc and a ridge strip for 3–5 years of control. If granules are gone or felt is exposed, we show you the photos and quote both paths honestly.

Yes. We document damage with drone passes and moisture readings, write the scope in the format adjusters expect, and meet your adjuster on the roof. On approved claims you pay only your deductible — and the tarping visit is free either way.

GAF’s 50-year Golden Pledge covers materials and our labour, registered before we invoice. Ridgeline’s own 10-year workmanship warranty covers anything we nailed, flashed or sealed. Both transfer once to the next owner — a real selling point at closing.
